FOLLOWING CHELSEA IN THE WSL

I’m Sade, a Sports photographer, who happens to be black and female. I have currently been creating content surrounding the lack of representation in the sport media industry. I would say there are loads of young women who would love to do sports photography and I have realised that the pathway is quite blurred. Not sure why. However, I am on a mission to change that … one game at a time. My sport photography journey officially started in April , 2026. I shot the Chelsea vs Liverpool WSL game and I was amazed by the experience that I had to share it with many other photographers via content, who have no clue how to get pitchside with their cameras.


I have built a strong network over the past few years which have helped me to get these places; however , my purpose is to definitely highlight the issues in representation. The 3rd picture of Alyssa Thompson that I took, really resonates with me because it’s only her surrounded with empty space. When you are on a specific mission or purpose , it does get lonely but it’s important to drown out every other voice that tells you the opposite.These photos are likely to be framed in my house because it’s a feeling I never want to forget. I chose Chelsea and Chelsea chose me.
